I'm sorry Julie, Karen and everyone else....

But here are my top 5 moments of Lost/ top 5 biggest disappointments with Lost...
* This is more for Blaine, QT, and my long lost friend, D.J.

Top 5 Moments

5) When Sayid shoots a young Ben in season 5. Wow.
4) When Hurley discovers that his winning lottery numbers are not only the exact code for the hatch, but also the reason they crashed!
3) End of season 4 when Ben moves the island and a boat discovers the survivors (and it turns out to be Penny). Ooooooh, I get chills just thinking about it.
2) End of season 3. They made television history by showing us that everything we've been seeing is actually a flashback of 3 years earlier. While this was television history in the making, it would have made #1 if it wasn't for...
1) First episode of season 3. This is when the writers CLEARLY decided how to finish the series. We get to see the "others" going about their daily business and get to see the plane crash and how Ben handles the situation. While maybe this wasn't groundbreaking for television, for LOST, it was the most pivotal moment in the show.

Top 5 problems...
5) When the "Oceanic 6" have Penny drop them off at a nearby island so they can convince the world that everyone else is dead, why did Aaron have to go with them? It seems rather dangerous to bring a baby that doesn't belong to anyone and would be much better off in the safe confines of a large boat (especially with Desmond and Kate).
4) Kate and Sawyer having sex. Just gross. Can you imagine how bad you would smell and taste? Yuck.
3) Mr. Eko. He was by far the most interesting part of season 2 and yet we all know that story is dead because they have bigger fish to fry. Of course, I could be wrong. I mean, it's not over yet.
2) Season 5 when Faraday talks to Desmond (of the past) and tells him to find his mom. If this happened in the past, why wouldn't Desmond recognize Faraday when he sees him in the present? MORE IMPORTANTLY, if Desmond was only able to remember this happening AS IT HAPPENED, how come Charlotte could remember Daniel telling her to leave the island as a little girl. Ugh time travel!!!!
1) The smoke monster. You and I both know they thought this was the coolest f'in thing for the first season and then realized "oh shit, we're going to have to explain this!" and have YET to come up with anything. How about a military test? something! anything!

Rebuttal, from a fellow Lost nerd

GREATEST

6. First minutes of Pilot, Part 1. For a show like Lost to be instantly successful it would have to find a way to capture the audience right from the series' opening moments. The J.J. Abrams-directed "Pilot" did just that by establishing perfect pace, beautiful shots, and a vast array of characters very early on.

5. The Reveal of Locke in the Wheelchair. Ok, so as much as I hate Terry O'Quinn's Locke, I have to admit Walkabout was an AMAZING bit of television. The entire episode had cleverly concealed this, while only consisting of scenes when Locke was sitting. The implications of this reveal were huge, as it hinted that something truly fantastic - whether magical, spiritual, or otherwise - was happening on the island, considering Locke had inexplicably been able to walk from the moment he got there.

4. "If I were one of them, what would I do?" The most underrated moment in Lost history. Henry Gale's episode ending monologue about how if he were one of the Others, the map he drew for Ana Lucia and Sayid would probably lead to a trap is Michael Emerson's best moment, and really illustrates why his presence was the only thing holding the show together at the time; because it quite honestly saved the episode. It was both incredibly alarming and darkly funny, and it was Ben at his (then unknown) awesome, mind-f*cking best.

3. The Blastdoor map. I knew I had LOST (pun intended) my goddamn mind for the show at this point. The single best easter egg in the entire run of the series so far. Nothing else has given the fans as much fodder for speculation, and its initial reveal is an almost magical or even transcendent moment; it's like the light in the hatch coming on, only in neon.

2. Michael Killing Ana-Lucia & Libby. OMFG...You couldn't say you saw the deaths coming - you just stared at the TV in shock. Did they just kill off two of the new characters this season in a matter of seconds? Yes, yes they did - suddenly making the show's future feel fresh.

1. The rattlesnake in the mailbox. The game changer...a singular performance from Matthew Fox and I will continue to defend it to the death. The final minutes of Through the Looking Glass not only offered a spectacular twist ending but also introduced a new narrative structure that opened up a whole new world of storytelling. Hasn't been topped yet, probably never will be. The greatest twist in the history of serialized television.

Honorable Mention:
"Kate, dammit, run!"
The boarding montage
Sun gives birth in the future, Jin rushes to the hospital in the past
Dr. Arzt blows himself up
Locke’s dad shows up on the Island

I wish I could go back and re-watch it from the beginning but in like 30 minutes or so! Good list!

I agree with that. I need a refresher. I may or may not remember all or none of these things.

That said, off the top of my head, I am going to agree with the following:

When Sayid shoots a young Ben in season 5.
boat discovers the survivors (and it turns out to be Penny). --- My Lost world revolves around Penny & Desmond. Probably the best moment of the series for me. Except, of course.......
Ben shooting Caesar. I seriously thought we were going to have to endure a season of watching this asshat lovechild of Jack and AnaLucia try to run the show without any fucking clue of what he was dealing with. Such an awesome surprise and also well played in the narrative.

Things that are mentioned in your "problems" list that I love anyway:
Mr. Eko
Faraday's mom. I have a crush on that lady.
Kate and Sawyer having sex (cuz, I hate Jack).

Other things that I loved:
That crazy lady Rousseau
the death of Ana Lucia
Libby & Desmond
The women of Deadwood
Charlie's sharpie

Other things that I hate:
Have I mentioned AnaLucia?
Sayid & what's her face, Shannon
That asshole from every movie, (namely Matewan), aka Locke's non-dad
Hurley's whole family
Charlie's brother's underwear

that's enough out of me. (if you can't tell, or haven't noticed the pattern, I am supposed to be working right now)
