Reasons why I hated *LOST* last night

1. "No Jack!"
I've never really understood the Jack hate...but then again, I've never really appreciated John Locke's utter existence...soooooo, cosmically, I think that's about right.

2. Smokey Letdown
Seriously...WTF...the most important piece of the Lost mythos and the best Messrs Lindelof and Cuse can come up with is a deleted scene from Backdraft? Not to mention the big reveal that a porta john/bat phone can - sometimes - be used to summon the beast...Damn...I wish I could quit you Lost!!!

3. “If everything you’ve done was in the best interest of the island, the monster should understand.”
Ugggghhhhhhhhh...

Reasons I loved it? I was CERTAIN Ben had killed Penny! It's always nice to be surprised:)

Oh, and it was nice to take a break from watching Jack cry.

Look, I'm not the biggest Locke fan in the world but Jack is one of the (most consistent but) worst characters ever (to me). We will never come to an agreement on this. I am OK with that. It should be part of the Meyers Briggs or something.

The smokey thing wasn't all that great but I enjoyed watching Alex tell Ben to step in line. Especially with that camera angle making her look all chompy.

Agreed on your #3.

So now that you have rebutted my list let me just say this: #1 and #6 on my list are irrefutable, and these reasons are enough to earn my love and affection. Consider the rest as just pleasant filler. Although my #3 was pretty exciting too.

Also, #6!!!

All things considered, it's amazing how fundamentally opposed we can be on this one. Short of some small disagreements on the brilliance of Julia Roberts (I'm slowly coming around) and period pieces (I stand by my belief that this is the most hit or miss genre), we tend to get on the same page with most things...

...Jack Shephard has been the driving force of the show for four seasons now - and while the addition of some key supporting players (Eko, Juliet, Daniel, and that Benjamin Linus character) has elevated the show to what it is today, we've ALWAYS had Jack.

Watch Through the Looking Glass again and tell me you hate Jack Shephard. Please don't actually; I'm sensitive.

OK, back to the topic. I think you are missing the point -- I hate Jack. Like, if he worked in our office, I would hate him. So whether or not he is a "driving force" is irrelevant. To my point earlier, he is a very well-written character, especially because he is so consistent. But for me, personally, he is consistently annoying. Driving force, stubborn, pouty, arrogant, unable to admit mistakes. He's basically George Bush.

And WHOA!! -- I have never, ever, ever called Julia Roberts "brilliant." I think my exact words were, "I like *Erin Brockovich*." Which has more to do with my being in love with Steven Soderbergh, at one time anyway.

You forgot Desmond!

Ok ok, let's just concede that I'm right and you're wrong...and if Jack worked in this office he'd be my coach...now that I think about it...hmmmm

P.S. - Desmond rocks!
