My favorites are your list minus (and I don't hate any of these people, but) Stevie Nicks, Patti Smith, Lucinda Williams, Margo Timmins, and Nico (I love her, but don't KNOW enough and would feel disingenuous putting/leaving her on my list) PLUS Aimee Mann, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless, and Madonna. If I have more than 11, Natalie Maines, Neko Case, and Kelly Clarkson. yikes.
I forgot to mention that ONJ rules them all, but I never listen to her anymore so I couldn't honestly include her. She is like a goddess. in roller skates and leather.

loretta , neko case, and aimee mann were the ones that fell off when i decided to try to stick to 10, but didn't.
Julie, would you have Patty Griffin? What about Julie Miller?
